TECHSPEC Fused Silica Wedge Prisms Excellent
for Beam Steering Applications
Edmund Optics (EO) introduces new TECHSPEC Fused Silica
Wedge Prisms. These versatile prisms are ideal for a wide range
of beam deviation options, whether used individually or in pairs.
They offer superior surface characteristics with 1/10 wave surface
accuracy and 20-10 scratch-dig. Edmund Optics’ TECHSPEC
Fused Silica Wedge Prisms provide a low coefficient of thermal
expansion and a high transmittance for optimal performance from
the Ultraviolet to the NIR range. Used individually, TECHSPEC
Fused Silica Wedge Prisms can deviate a laser beam by a specific
angle. In pairs, the prisms are excellent for a wide variety of beam
steering applications.

Genia Photonics Enters Into
Strategic Partnership with IQT
Genia Photonics Inc., a high technology
company specializing in fiber-laser based
systems, announced today a strategic
partnership and technology development
agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the not-for
profit, strategic investment firm that delivers
innovative technology solutions to support
the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. The technology is being developed for the Department of Homeland Security
Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), an IQT customer agency. This
strategic partnership between Genia Photonics and IQT will promote Genia’s fiber
based laser technology development to a higher level and provide new opportunities
for Genia’s product applications.

DILAS Delivers New Homogenized Conduction-Cooled,
Line-Source at 600 W, 880 nm
DILAS is now delivering a new conduction-cooled, multi-bar, line source module with a
homogeneous top hat optical beam profile in the slow-axis and diffraction limited profile
in the fast-axis. This module is capable of 600 W power output in 880 nm ± 5 nm. These
conduction-cooled, multi-bar modules are
based on DILAS’ beam shaping and homogeni-
zation expertise. By applying these concepts,
DILAS obtains a 97.5% (± 2.5%) homogenized
intensity profile in the slow-axis. The line dimen-
sions are 10. 5 mm x 325 µm (nominal). Custom-
ized focus geometries can be offered as well.
Designed for materials processing applications,
these homogenized, multi-bar modules are
ideal for solar, plastics welding, semiconductor
processing and thermal annealing.

Nextrom and DSM successfully
demonstrate high-speed optical
fiber draw process
Nextrom and DSM
Functional Materials
recently completed trials
demonstrating the latest
generation of high speed
draw process technology
combined with state of the
art optical fiber coatings.
Using DSM’s DeSolite®
Supercoatings, the trials
at Nextrom’s test facility in
Vantaa Finland demonstrated excellent draw performance and resulting fiber
performance at all speeds
tested, including at 2,500
meters per minute—50%
faster than average production speeds used globally
in the industry. Process
speeds of 2500 meters per
minute were achieved in the
Optical Fiber Drawing
process at Nextrom’s laboratory using
state-of-the-art OFC 20
production
technology.

Starting with the February 2012 issue of OPN there will be a charge of $150 for nonmembers to run a corporate press release in the magazine
and on the website at www.osa-opn.org. Corporate members and advertisers may continue to run their press releases at no charge. The
Product Profiles section is based on information supplied by manufacturers. Optics & Photonics News assumes no responsibility for its accuracy.
Only a few products can be highlighted in each issue. High quality art is taken into account in the selection process, as are newsworthiness and
relevance to the optics and photonics industry. For more information contact Regan Pickett at + 1.202.416.1474 or email rpickett@osa.org.
