Call for Papers: Optics in 2009
Have you reported significant findings in a peer-reviewed journal over the course of the past year? If so, please consider submitting a summary of your published article in OPN’s special December issue, Optics in 2009. This special issue highlights the
most exciting optics research to emerge in the preceding 12 months. Optics in 2009 allows readers to access, in a single source,
summaries of cutting-edge optics research reported in the peer-reviewed press. We strive to emphasize areas that created substantial interest in the optical community during the course of the year, and to represent the tremendous breadth of the field.
We are asking authors to submit their summaries and figures through OSA’s online submission system (ADS). Please visit
www.osa-opn.org to submit your summary. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2009.
Submissions are judged on the basis of the following criteria:
The accomplishments described must have been published in a peer-reviewed journal after July 2008.
The work should be illustrated in a clear, concise manner that is readily accessible to the at-large optics community.
The authors should describe the topical area as a whole and then discuss the importance of their work in that context.
Summaries must be no longer than 500 words and contain no more than five references, with only one camera-ready
figure or image. Longer summaries may be disqualified from consideration.
Summaries should represent the best work in a given area. Thus, we discourage multiple submissions from the same
individual or group.
OPN makes every effort to ensure that achievements in all optics subfields are recognized. For
this reason, we may not accept multiple submissions from one research group in a single, concentrated area of focus. OPN strives to ensure that engineering, basic science and technology are
all well represented.
